🌍 Fighting AntiGypsyism Across Europe: Building Knowledge, Empowering Change
AntiGypsyism remains one of the leading causes of social exclusion and discrimination faced by Roma communities across Europe. Despite ongoing efforts, prejudice and unequal treatment continue to affect access to education, employment, public services, and social participation.
🤝 The AntiGypsism Project is working to address this challenge by strengthening the knowledge and skills of professionals who play a key role in promoting inclusion and equality, including:
- Youth workers
- Social workers
- Police officers
- Public servants
- Community leaders and educators
Through transnational cooperation, the project brings together partners from six countries to exchange expertise, share good practices, and develop innovative, practical tools that can be easily adapted and replicated across different European contexts.
🎯 Our goals include:
• Preventing and combating AntiGypsyism across Europe
• Closing knowledge and skills gaps among professionals
• Promoting positive Roma role models within communities
• Supporting the objectives of the EU Roma Strategic Framework 2020-2030
• Expanding the reach and impact of anti-discrimination practices at European level
By working together across borders, we can create stronger, more inclusive societies where diversity is respected and equal opportunities are available to all.

📢 AntiGypsyism remains the biggest concern for Roma youth in Europe
According to the Phiren Amenca 2021 Study, anti-Gypsyism continues to shape the daily experiences of young Roma people:
- 95% have witnessed or experienced discriminatory words, behaviours, and gestures directed at Roma people.
- 68% have encountered racism during their school or university education.
- 59% face barriers to education, including segregation, discrimination, poor-quality education, and inaccessibility.
- 57% experience obstacles to participating fully in public and social life.
The study, along with the European Youth Forum Resolution on combating AntiGypsyism, highlights urgThe study, along with the European Youth Forum Resolution on combating AntiGypsyism, highlights urg#EUprojectsent needs:
- Stronger empowerment and capacity-building for youth organizations.
- More training opportunities, tools, methodologies, and guidelines for youth workers to recognize, prevent, and report AntiGypsyism.
- Increased youth engagement, awareness campaigns, and the sharing of good practices to challenge prejudice and discrimination.
💡 Our project responds directly to these challenges by strengthening the capacities of youth workers and young people, while developing practical tools, educational materials, methodologies, and guidelines to effectively combat AntiGypsyism.
Together, we can create more inclusive communities where Roma youth can learn, participate, and thrive free from discrimination.

🤝 Today we met online to continue our work on WP2 – Knowledge for youth organisations to combat antigypsyism.
📝 We coordinated the remaining sections of the guidelines and started working on scenarios to tackle discrimination against Roma communities.
🎮 Together, we’re creating gamification tools to help youth workers and young people fight antigypsyism and promote inclusion.

🟠Partners of the AntiGypsyism project held the 2nd online meeting to discuss project progress and next steps.
During the meeting:
• Partners reviewed the overall progress of the project and focused on the upcoming actions of WP2.
• The mapping of good practices and knowledge gaps among young people and youth workers in combating Antigypsyism is nearing completion, with a special focus on gamification. A Transnational Report will be published next month.
• Partners also planned the next implementation steps, aiming to develop practical Guidelines for combating Antigypsyism.
